First Place- Krisha Patel

A Creation for the Braced
Inspired by the lack of effective tools to help bed-ridden patients, for her invention called “A Creation for the Braced” Krisha used littlebits to design and develop a working prototype aimed to help people confined to bed due to disabilities, back braces, injury, or cast. Her remote-controlled, innovative assistive device is fully automated solution to the dangerous pull-up bars. To make it cost-effective and eco-friendly, she powered her device with rechargeable batteries that harness the power of solar energy. Way to go Krisha! We are so proud of your thoughtful invention!!

The team created an app called “Eating Green- An App to Keep You Healthy” This application for the smart devices aims to focus on the issue of Food Safety in their local community. Their prototype app features listing local restaurants, weekly recall lists from the health department, and an option to get notification alerts about allergic ingredients in the food. Their prototype was well received by their local Health Department Administrators and expressed interest in further developing the application for the city of Vineland.

The Deforestation Situation
For her project called “The Deforestation Situation” she developed a website to educate people about deforestation and raise awareness about the harmful effects of deforestation. She calls up on people to sign up with local stores for getting tree consumption alerts and then making call to join the biannual re-plantation drive based on the number of trees used. On her website she also integrated a Paper to Tree Calculator to estimate the number of trees cut, the amount carbon dioxide emissions and the number of trees required to offset the effects of those emissions.

The Effects of Landfills
For their project titled “The Effects of Landfills” the team addressed an important issue of what happens if the landfills are not controlled. They used a compost pit model to study the effect of landfills on global warming. They proposed the use of artificial islands for the landfills as a solution for climate control.
